Fall Registration is Now Open!

As we move into the fall season, we're thrilled to announce the details of our upcoming 10-week program for your young chess enthusiasts! This semester promises to be an exciting and rewarding journey, with new challenges, opportunities to grow, and plenty of fun along the way.

Registration Deadline: September 14th
First Day of Class: September 7th
Make-up Sessions
Please note that, moving into fall, there will be no make-up sessions other than one week dedicated to make-up work/activities. We encourage your child to attend all scheduled classes to get the most out of the program.
Lead Instructor
We're delighted to announce that Coach Markian Zabihaylo will be your child's Lead Instructor for this fall season. Coach Markian brings a wealth of experience and passion for chess education, ensuring your child receives the best possible guidance and support.
Fall Schedule
Our fall schedule is carefully crafted to provide a structured and engaging learning environment. Here's an overview of what you can expect:
Week 1 (Sept 7): Overview of the 8-week program + tournament details, checkmates, and basic endgame theory.
Week 2 (Sept 14): White opening focus, London system theory, Ruy Lopez theory, concrete lines, positional ideas, and example games.
Week 3 (Sept 21): Test on learned opening lines, thought process lessons, and full games with both colors.
Week 4 (Sept 28): Tactics solving by group level, M1-M3 tactics, pin/skewer concepts, advanced tactics, puzzle streak, and Ruy Lopez tactics.
Week 5 (Oct 5): Black opening vs d4, Semi-Slav theory, QGD theory, concrete lines, positional ideas, and example games.
Week 6 (Oct 12): Test on learned lines, thought process lessons, and full games with both colors.
Week 7 (Oct 19): In-depth endgame technique, tougher endgame theory and tactics.
Week 8 (Oct 26) - ONLINE SESSION: Black opening vs e4, Caro-Kann theory, French theory, concrete lines, positional ideas, and example games.
Week 9 (Nov 2): Practice games, group discussions, in-depth black openings vs e4, and wrap-up games.
Week 10 (Nov 9) - TOURNAMENT DAY: 1-section 5-round Swiss (G15;d5), USCF-rated tournament with prizes, simulation of real tournament pairings.
Week 11 (Nov 16) - MAKEUP DAY: Students may complete missed or unfinished activities.
Awards and Rewards
We're excited to announce that there will be awards at Week 10 for the tournament! Additionally, we'll be recognizing the top student for this fall season with a special reward.
Make-up Class Options
If your child misses a class, they can make up the time on one of our Friday nights. This flexibility ensures that they stay on track with their peers and don't miss out on valuable learning opportunities.
Family Chess Meets
On the first and third Fridays of the month from 5-9 PM, we'll be hosting family chess meets. These events are a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet and socialize while their kids play chess. Friday nights when we're open are free to encourage growth in our community.
