Rapids Chess Tournament

• Location: Our tournaments are held at our Morristown location, except on holidays.

• Registration: HERE

  • Online: Closes at midnight the day before the tournament. Entry fee is $30.

  • Onsite: Available from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM on the day of the tournament. Entry fee is $40. Capacity is limited to 50 participants, so register early to secure your spot.

• Rounds:

  • First round starts at 12:00 PM sharp. Subsequent rounds follow immediately after sections finish. The tournament typically consists of 5-7 Swiss-system rounds, depending on participation.

• Time Control: G/15 + 10-second increment.

• Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $70 cash prize.

  • 2nd & 3rd Place: Free entry credit for the next tournament.

• Sections:

  • u1000 Section: For players rated under 1000, unrated games.

  • Open Section: For players rated 1000 and above.

• Additional Details:

  • USCF-rated, open to all ages and skill levels.

  • Chess sets(you may bring your own), scoresheets, and pencils are provided. Players must bring their own clocks.

  • Short breaks provided after every 2-3 rounds. Each competitor is guaranteed three rated games.
